It’s about time they save Lincoln by taking the platform, putting an Aston-esque body on it, filling the interior with leather, wood and gizmos (and those gonzo super-adjustable seats) and calling it the Mark IX. They could go after the Lexus LC with it.
For extra rad and extra class they can drop the roman numerals and just call it the MARK NINE (in all caps).

But the new Lincoln coupe should ride on the new RWD unibody platform used by the new Explorer.

as long as they make a Bill Blass edition
(Honestly - I think FoMoCo could probably come out atleast even on a Lincolnized Mustang even now. Love the “Mark Nine” logo. Ooohh - and they could drop the hotted up 3.5 EB in it!

My thoughts were the 2.7 Ecoboost in the base model and the 3.5 (tuned to ~475 horsepower) in the upper level and an aluminum body (since they’re all about aluminum these days).
Also, they should call the 3.5 model the MARK NINE PLUS.
But seriously, having MARK NINE spelled out in big chrome letters on the rear of the car would be baller as fuck.

Gotta make it desirable to folks buying power coupes these days... how do we do that, (Cadillac has not been successful..) It could be a fabulous, sexy, very fast car with that 3.5 EB - but folks might still not buy it... It would make for some great advertisement potential though...
Dark blue Lincoln coupe blasts past, EB3.5 growling at first then ripping as it accelerates past with just a touch of anti-lag crackle.
“What is that?”
“Mark... Nine....”

You do it by making the car ooze attitude. Cadillac tried to make their coupes scream “performance”, but what sold most instead? Tarted up Tahoes with lots of bling.

No joke, they probably won’t because they “Don’t want lincoln to just be known for rebadged fords”. At least, that was their excuse for years and years on why the mustang platform is somehow off limits for lincoln while literally everything else is fair game.

The Navigator, and soon the Aviator, is already saving Lincoln. If Ford produces a Mustang-based Lincoln, it will be as a halo car to show off how successful those two models have made the brand.
